Where we came from

A Legacy of Dedication: Celebrating Randy Hoerner’s Retirement

In 1972, while the world watched Watergate unfold and KISS took the stage for the first time, Randy Hoerner began preparing income taxes in St. Charles. Over the next decade, he worked for Dudley Kirby, ran a mobile tax service, and gained corporate accounting experience before deciding to start his own firm in Chesaning. In January 1980, with the support of his wife, Mary Kay, R.A. Hoerner Accounting & Tax Service opened its doors.

What began as a small business with three employees grew into a trusted firm, serving thousands of clients. In 2010, Randy’s son, Ryan, joined the firm as a CPA, followed by Amy L. Geer in 2014. That same year, Randy and Mary Kay fulfilled their dream, selling the practice to Ryan and Amy. Today, Hoerner & Geer CPAs has expanded to multiple locations with a team of over 20 professionals.

Beyond his career, Randy dedicated himself to the community—serving on boards, leading fundraisers, and volunteering tirelessly. His passion for helping others defined his career, and his relationships with clients turned into lifelong friendships.

After 50 years of service, we celebrate Randy’s well-earned retirement. It’s time for more golf, winter getaways, and family moments—hopefully without driving Mary Kay crazy! Congratulations, Randy, on a remarkable career and a legacy of service.
